Under UNEP-GEF Project, The Telangana State Biodiversity Board along with IIOR and BMCs (Kothakota Mahaboobnagar District & Kothagudem, Nalgonda District) together received Biodiversity Awards 2016 for successful ABS (Access and Benefit Sharing) mechanism. This ABS model is one of the best model in India that a ICAR Institution (IIOR) involved and shared the benefits to the custodians of the biological resources (Soil bacterium) which was used for developing technology on bio-pesticide also commercialized the technology for private companies as per the ICAR guidelines prior to the ABS guidelines as well. The Appreciation letters and the Plaque have been recently received from UNDP-India office.
